The Outdoors club is the largest club at RMIT but it doesn't run itself, we have a large committee which keeps the club running smoothly. This year more than ever we really need to get some fresh faces onto the committee. In particular we are looking to replace the entire exec committee (President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secratary). The future of the club really depends on this, since many of the current committee are leaving at the end of this year. So if you have been active in the club then perhaps its time for you to step up and join the committee! Help run the club and gain some great experience helping to run the largest club at RMIT!

We are constantly looking for motivated outdoors-minded people like you to head up activities, organize the club itself, and keep things moving in general. You can now get a live listing of trips that you are signed up to including your current status on these trips (confirmed, waitlist etc) through our website.

First you need to link your forum/website account to your club membership details that you use to sign up for trips. Once that is done you will be able to access the list of trips you are currently signed up to and also join trips without having to go through the verification email process!

This can be access through the User Control Panel. See the screenshot to the right for an example listing!

RETURN CLUB GEAR ASAP!!!

We need all club gear not being used on upcoming trips this weekend and next weekend to be returned to the gear room as soon as possible, as we are planning a stocktake for mid-May. We will have a gear return amnesty (no late fees, no questions asked!) up until the deadline of Thursday 7th May 2009. Any gear not returned by this date may incur late fees. In particular, we are missing a lot of climbing gear, so if you have any climbing gear please return it ASAP!

Just an additional 'heads up' that the gear room will NOT be open during the usual time of 6.30 to 7.30pm this Thursday due to the Easter trip.

However, you can still go Tuesday night during the regular time (6.30-7.30pm) and the new Wednesday time (2-3pm) if you need stuff for a trip.

Orientation festival Day is on Wednesday 25th Feb from 11am - 4pm. We will have a stall in Bowen St (near the basketball court) where you can come and find out more about the club, the activities and trips we run. You will also be able to join up to the club. We will also have outdoors club T-shirts available for the bargain price of $10.

Intro night is Wednesday 4th March from 6.30pm, it will be held in the Uni Function Room in Building 8 (Enter off Swanston St, near the Commonwealth bank, its the first room to the left of Keleide Theatre).This night will start with an information session where you can find out all about the activities in the club and some of the upcoming trips. You will also have a chance to sign up to the club. The information session will be followed by a free BBQ where you will have a chance to meet many of the clubs members.

Please note if you are a new member, it is best if you complete the online registration on the Launch site and bring your booking confirmation (or Launch ID and Booking numbers) along when you join. See here for instructions.

Gear Room - will be re-opening on the Thursday 26th Feb 2009. The hours for Semester 1 will be Tuesdays and Thursday 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

Intro Trip - has been set for the Labour Day Weekend (6th-9th March), after the success of last years trip out to the Otways Ranges we have decided to head back again this year for another long weekend of action, including Mountain Biking, Bush Walking and Surfing! Rock Climbing Intro will held on the following weekend 13th-15th March and Paddling Intro the weekend 20th-22nd March tails about these trips and plenty more for Semester 1 to come soon.

Orientation Festival Day - will be held in Week 0 this year, on the 25th Feb 11am - 4pm, so if you are not doing anything that day come along and find out more about the club and sign up. We will be running an Information Night on 4th March at RMIT where you can also find out more all the activities we offer and the trips we run and afterwards enjoy a free BBQ.

The Outdoors Club gear room is now closed for summer and will not be operating regular opening hours over the summer (uni) holidays, it will operate by appointment only. If you need to hire or return any gear over the summer you need to email gear@roc.org.au atleast 3 days before to arrange a suitable time.

Well if you haven't heard yet, our gear room has moved to a new location. Its a Bigger and better and all new and shiny gear room, which actually has enough space for all our gear (well atleast until we go and buy more gear). It is Located in Building 8 level 2, just to the right of Kaleide theatre as you walk in through the auto-doors. To make it super easy for you find we have produced this map. If you get lost trying to find the new room you can reach us on our new phone number 99255254 (during opening hours only).
